David
My appreciation for the art began at the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications in the 1980s, where I was fortunate enough to photograph the likes of Sen. John Glenn and Rev. Jessie Jackson as a student journalist in Gainesville, Florida.
Post-college, photography followed me as an enduring personal passion through a progression of careers as a journalist for the Orlando Sentinel, an insurance agent for Prudential, a stock broker with Barnett Securities and a web application developer for the Federal Reserve. I’ve been paid to photograph people since 2012.
Jill
I discovered my appreciation for photography first in front of the camera as an occasional model and later behind it as I developed a love of the craft through David when we began collaborating in 2016. While photography is now my full-time profession,
I’m also a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in geriatrics. Although I keep my license current, I no longer practice because I’ve found in photography an absolutely rewarding way of helping people find their potential and worth.
Never ones to settle for mediocrity, we’ve pushed ourselves to be the portrait artists that we would admire. We’ve developed our skills under some of the best technical and creative minds in the industry, we challenge ourselves every day, we’re engaged members of two important industry communities: Wedding and Portrait Photographers International and Professional Photographers of America, and we challenge each other every day to exceed our clients’ expectations.
After we formed One Soul Photography in 2018, we began with a home studio. We moved into a commercial location on Marietta Square in downtown Marietta in 2021, and we expanded into our current 3,000sf creative space in Kennesaw in 2023.
We love proving people wrong about themselves when they’re self-critical. And it’s worth saying that running a business founded on elevating others allows us to feel good about how we’re spending our lives.
And, finally, as artists, we thrive on taking whomever walks through our door and coaxing their inner strength into the light of our lens to celebrate who they are as a person.
We live in Marietta, GA, about 15 minutes from our Kennesaw studio. We have two cats, Oscar and Bokeh. We love travel but don’t do enough of it. We’re also foodies, enjoy wine, and love a great movie.
